Blending Greens Into a Smoothie is the Easiest Way to Get More Veggies into your Lifestyle
So how did everyone do? Did you try something new? Did you realize that adding greens to fruit does something magical to them? They pretty much disappear and have very little flavor when you blend them up other than adding a fresh green color to your smoothie. I actually like the look of the little green flecks in mine and I know I haven’t forgotten to add them in. Did you replace 3 meals with green smoothies last week as part of my #CGSmoothie Challenge?
Have you found your favorites yet? I’d never added coconut to one before and I loved the tropical flavor. If you have kiddo’s that don’t like any chunks in their smoothies you should probably steer clear of those though.
Here are my smoothie photos and recipes from Week 1 of the 2015 #CGSmoothie Challenge:
CRANBERRY SPRITZER RECIPE
- 1 cup organic greens
- 4 oz coconut water
- 4 oz almond milk
- 1 cup organic frozen pineapple
- Optional – 1/2 scoop of RawFit Protein Powder
- Optional 3 drops citrus fresh essential oil (add directly to the glass and stir in)
This one was quite tangy and I love that.. if this isn’t sweet enough you can always add a chunk of banana or a little agave or honey. I waited until it was out of the blender and into my glass before I put the drops of essential oils in . I didn’t want to waste them on the side of the blender. These are part of the weight loss trio of oils that I’m going to be trying with this months order of oils. I’ve also been putting a 3 drops in my HUGE glass of ice water every day. It is really helping my sweets cravings and helping me drink more water.
BERRY BLAST SMOOTHIE RECIPE
- 1 cup greens
- 1/2 cup fresh cranberries
- 1/4 c frozen organic blueberries
- Chunk of frozen cucumber
- 1/2 cup frozen organic mango.
- Optional: 3 drops citrus fresh essential oils (after blending and stirred in )
- Optional: 1/2 scoop of RawFit Protein Powder
Woo hoo day 3 of week 1 of my #CGSmoothie challenge .. Today I ditched the tart cranberries for a sweet blend of greens mango banana & peaches ( I froze some palisades from the farmers market) protein powder coconut water and almond milk
Palisade Peach Dreamsicle Smoothie Recipe
- 1 cup organic greens (kale, spinach or super greens)
- 1/2 cup palisade peaches (frozen or fresh)
- 1/2 mango frozen organic
- 1/4 banana
- 1/2 cup coconut water
- 1/2 cup almond milk
- Optional: 1/2 scoop of RawFit Protein Powder
My challenge for Week 1 was to replace 3 of your meals but I guess I just felt so good after the first 3 days and NOT so great on the day I skipped that I wanted to sneak in a 4th day. Good job if you did too. You can use smoothies to replace any meals, Breakfast Lunch Dinner or your after sweets craving but I really find that if I start my morning with a smoothie that I feel better, I think clearer and I make better food choices the rest of the day.
COCONUT DREAM SMOOTHIE RECIPE
- 1 cups fresh greens
- 1 cup coconut milk, unsweetened
- 1/2 cup mango – fresh or frozen
- 1/2 cup pineapple – fresh or frozen
- 1/2 banana – fresh or frozen
- 1 tablespoon coconut flakes, unsweetened
- (Optional: 1/2 scoop of RawFit Protein Powder)
This was REALLY good. If your kiddos don’t like anything chunky in the smoothie, skip the coconut flakes but I really enjoyed this fresh summery tasting drink in the middle of winter.
My week 2 has started strong with a Tropical Detox Blend.. check it out here on Instagram.
Not sure where to start? It doesn’t matter.. just START Today and that’s your Day 1.
