Everyone I know is looking for ways to lose weight and/or get healthy again and I’m in that group.
It’s particularly hard if you are over 50. I’ve tried Weight Watchers, Diet Center, Atkins, Eat Right for Your Blood Type, Cave Man, I’ve read “French Women Don’t Get Fat“, South Beach, Glycemic Index, The Zone, and bought loads of miracle foods… green tea, chia seeds, the list goes on and on and on…
My favorite of the bunch was Weight Watchers but it’s very expensive and your experience depends greatly on the “counselor” that happens to be at your local center.
None of them combine all of these factors
Faith – Friends – Focus – Fitness & Food —
Like the Daniel Plan does.
There aren’t too many gadgets or gizmos.. the price is low and the support is fantastic.
The diet grew from Rick Warren, the pastor at Saddleback Church’s own observations about himself and his congregation. They were all fat or getting fat! I know that’s not a PC word to use but that’s what it is…
You start by reading the whole book where you are bound to have many “AHA” moments as you are reading it…. next you start the detox … 10 days where you rid your body of all the junk that’s been piling up in there for the last several months years or decades depending on how long you’ve been eating lots of processed foods. There aren’t any gimmicks… it’s mostly about eating the food that God grows… real whole foods… lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.. fewer meats.. but also not being “RELIGIOUS” about it.. 90% of the time eat what you know is right.. and give yourself a break if 10% of the time you eat food because you enjoy it.. If it’s your birthday.. have a piece of cake for Pete’s sake!
